The Support Program for Civil Society Organizations Implemented by WWF Adria has been opened within the Project "Protected Areas for Nature and People"

The small grants program is intended for local associations and organizations that contribute to nature protection and conservation of protected areas (PA) in our region, and are aimed at improving the monitoring of unsustainable use of natural resources in and around protected areas. 

We invite you to apply and support protected areas and the rights of local communities!

Who can apply?

Non-governmental and nonprofit organizations, civil society organizations (e.g. environmental associations, youth associations, women's associations, mountaineering associations, local media) that have the status of a legal entity, will implement the project themselves and operate in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Serbia can apply for participation in the program.

What activities do we support?

The project proposal may include the following activities, in and around the protected areas (current, in the process of protection or planned):

1. Collection and analysis of documentation related to illegal and unsustainable practices, establishment of a system for monitoring non-sustainable practices (eg monitoring of forestry protocols, illegal hunting, illegal construction)
2. Capacity building of local organizations for monitoring unsustainable and illegal practices related to PA management (training, equipment...),
3. Establishing cooperation between non-governmental organizations and supervisory agencies (inspections, managers) in monitoring unsustainable and illegal activities,
4. Improving the implementation of existing regulations / policies / practices related to the protection of natural resources at the local level,
5. Campaigns on issues related to providing information and raising awareness of the population about their rights and the importance of nature protection (creation of small format media content regarding unsustainable practices in PA, such as short films, posts for social networks, etc.). Public happenings and events: panel discussions, round tables, workshops, street actions;
6. Providing support to the introduction of good practices and models of protected area management. Advocating for the adoption and changes of public policies concerning the improvement of the management of PA (locally),
7. Access to legal protection in relation to issues of protection of natural resources.
8. Establishing cooperation with local decision makers and other relevant local stakeholders on bad practices in and around the PA,
9. Promoting citizen activism for the protection of natural resources in local communities with special emphasis on the participation/education of vulnerable groups (e.g. women, youth, elderly, national minorities).

Program Budget

The available fund for financial support of the projects is EUR 30,000, which will support 10 organizations in a maximum amount of EUR 3,000 per organization.

Applications are submitted in the local language, and the costs of translating the application into English are paid by WWF Adria and are not included in the budget of the grantee. 

Receipts of your project documentation will be confirmed by WWF Adria by email. After the selection process is completed, ALL applicants will be informed about the results.

Deadlines

The call for project applications is open from December 21, 2020 until January 29, 2021 at 12.00 p.m. The duration of the project can be from 8 (eight) to 12 (twelve) months, and it must be completed by March 1, 2022.
